Row 1 chain 4 Join with a slip stitch
Row 2 chain 3 ( this counts as the first double crochet) , 2 double crochet* 3 double crochet into the ring chain 2 repeat from* to* 2 more times join with a slip stitch to top of beginning chain three.
Row 3 chain 3 (this counts as the first double crochet) 2 double crochet Chain 2* 3 double crochet into next space chain 2* repeat to corner and work 3 double crochet 2 chain 3 double crochet)in corner.
Repeat to end of row. Repeat row 3 until the granny square is as large as desired.
