Row 1: knit 1 stitch, yarn over, knit 1 stitch, yarn over, knit 1 stitch

Row 2: knit across the row.

Row 3: knit 2 stitches, yarn over, knit 1 stitch, yarn over, knit 2 stitches

Row 4: knit across the row.

Increase the number of stitches knit on every second row, making sure to yarn over knit 1 yarn over in the middle of the row.

Every alternate row is a straight knit row.

Row 2 and every even row: knit back

Row 3: knit to last two stitches and turn

Row 7: knit to last four stitches and turn

Row 9: knit to last 5 stitches and turn

Row 11: knit to last 6 stitches and turn

Row 13: knit to last 7 stitches and turn

Row 15: knit to last 8 stitches and turn

Row 17 and 18: knit

Repeat 8 more times.

Cast on 3 stitches

To increase

Row 1: knit 2 stitches yarn over then knit to the end of the row

Repeat row 1 until dishcloth is desired size.

To decrease

Row 2: knit 1 knit 2 stitches together yarn over knit 2 together then knit to the end of the row.

Repeat row 2 until there are three stitches left on the knitting needle

Cast off remaining stitches. Weave in all tails in three different directions to ensure that the ends of the project don't come loose through use

Row 1 - 4: knit

Row 5: knit 4, * yarn over, knit 2 together* to last 4 stitches. Knit remaining 4 stitches.

Repeat row 5 until desired length is achieved.

Then knit 4 rows to complete pattern.

Row 4 - 14: knit 5 stitches, purl 5 stitches, knit 5 stitches, purl 5 stitches, knit 10 stitches.

Row 15 - 25: knit 10 stitches, purl 5 stitches, knit 5 stitches, purl 5 stitches, knit 5 stitches.

Row 26 - 36: knit 5 stitches, purl 5 stitches, knit 5 stitches, purl 5 stitches, knit 5 stitches.

Row 37 - 40: knit

Row 41: Cast off.
