100% cotton yarn was used for this project.
Foundation Row: chain 12
Row 1 - 7: work in continuous circle until project is 6 rows wide then work in back loops only for 1 Row
Row 8 - 13: double crochet around row and join with a slip stitch
Row 14: single crochet around row and join with a slip stitch
Row 15: double crochet around row and join with a slip stitch
Row 16: single crochet around row and join with a slip stitch
Row 17 - 24x: repeat rows 15 and 16 ending with a row 15
Row 25: chain 3 ( this counts as first double crochet) keeping right side facing front, work 4 double crochet around post of the first double crochet from top to bottom, chain 1 keeping right side facing,turning work so double crochet is sideways facing front, Half scale made facing opposite, work 5 double crochet around next double crochet working from bottom to top around (1 scale made)* Chain 1 fold scale down, right side facing, skip next 5 double crochet, work 5 double crochet from top to bottom around post of next double crochet, chain 1 turn work, work 5 double crochet from bottom to top around post of next double crochet * repeat from* to* across row.
Turn work with wrong side facing, slip stitch in centre of last scale made to secure.
Row 26 - 31 single crochet around row and join with a slip stitch
Row 32: single crochet 10, chain 15, single crochet 10, chain 15. Single crochet around for 2 rows and join with a slip stitch.
Weave in the tail in at least three different directions to ensure that the ends of the project don't come loose through use. These are the handles.
