Knitting needle size: 4.5 mm (circular)
Weight: 3
Most of 2 skeins of yarn were used for this project
Foundation row: Cast on 40 stitches
Row 1 - 150: knit around row
Row 151: Cast off
With straight 4.5 mm knitting needles flatten out and pick up 20 stitches from the edge of the scarf 10 from each side. Work 5 to 6 rows in a rib stitch for edging then cast off.
Child's Hat
Knitting needles: 4.5 mm (circular)
Weight: 3
Foundation Row: Cast on 60 stitches with circular knitting needles.
Row 1 - 90: knit around row (pattern shown was 18 inches long when complete)
Row 91: Cast off leaving a tail long enough for sewing
Sew ends closed and sew through the middle of both ends to hold the hat ends together.
On the brim and side of the scarf attach the following appliques. Make as many as desired.
Butterfly:
Hook size: 2.00 mm
Chain 5 and in the 5th chain from hook work 4 treble crochetsattaching each to the beginning space.
Chain 4 and attach to the beginning space.
Chain 3 and work 4 double crochet attaching each to the beginning space. Chain 3 and attach to the beginning space.
Chain 3 and attach to the beginning space
Work 4 double crochet attaching each to the beginning space. Chain 3 and attach to the beginning space.
Chain 4 and attach to the beginning space work 4 treble crochet attaching each to the beginning space. Chain 4 and attach to the beginning space.
Chain a length long enough to go around the middle of the butterfly and tie onto the middle.
Rose:
Hook size: 2.00 mm
Foundation Row: chain 4 and join with a slip stitch
Row 1: chain 3 and slip stitch to join to foundation chain x4
Row 2:* single crochet, half double croche, double crochet, half double crochet, single crochet all into the same chain space slip stitch to next chain space* repeat from *to* across row and join with a slip stitch
Row 3: chain 3 slip stitch to foundation row chain 6 times
Row 4: * single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet x2, half double crochet, single crochet all into the same space slip stitch to next chain space* repeat from *to* across row and join with a slip stitch
