Make this totally cute little classic cactus - in crochet!

Key

Hdc: half double crochet
Ws: wrong side
Rs: right side
Ch: chain
Yoh: yarn over hook
Rem: remaining


Hook size: 2.00 mm

Weight: 4 100% cotton

Foundation Row: chain 18

Row 1: 1 hdc in 3rd chain from hook. 1 idc in each ch to end of chain. Turn 16 hdc

Row 2: ch 2. 1 idc in horizontal bar created below st in previous row ( bar is below loops normally worked on ws)
in each of next 14 hdc. Turn and leave rem 2 hdc unworked

Row 3: ch 2. 1 idc in horizontal bar created below st in previous row in each hdc to end of row. Turn.

Row 4: ch 2. 1 idc in horizontal bar created in previous row in each of next 14 hdc. Yoh and draw up a loop in side of last hdc of previous row. Yoh and draw up a loop in first uncorked hdc of 2nd row. Yoh and draw through all loops on hook. 1 idc in horizontal bar created below st in last hdc of 2nd row. Turn. 16 sts.

Row 5: ch 2. 1 idc in horizontal bar created below st in previous row in each hdc to end of row. Turn

Repeat rows 2 through 5 3 more times then fasten yarn off leaving a long tail and run yarn through sides of its along top edge( side of Work where short rows were worked) and draw up tightly. Sew side seam. Stuff and put into plant pot.

For a base to rest the cactus on a pair of circles can be created to fit the plant pot. Sew together and use stuffing.

If desired the cactus can be sewn to the "base" or a wire can be threaded through the cactus and attached to the " base" by making a circle with the wire underneath the base.
